Lincoln Residence

Surrounded by woodland and conservation easements, this new house and designed landscape posed two major challenges. First, to site the house and provide access to the property while respecting the delicate woodland ecosystem and add enough fill to raise the elevation of the house such that grading and drainage worked properly. The design for the gardens was generated by the formality of the house. The clean horizontal lines of the stone walls, bluestone paving, and continuous perimeter fence, define lawn spaces and provide and attractive contrast to the surrounding planting and woodlands. Special attention was taken to design the entrance drive to sensitively cross through the woodland and wetland areas, and to reestablish native plantings in accordance with sustainable design practices.
