Brown University Residential Quads – Wriston & Vartan Gregorian

This project for Brown University included the redesign of four residential quadrangles in order to meet universal access requirements. The goals of the project were to provide universal access without the use of handrails and to be harmonious with the existing campus landscape character. The scope of work encompassed working with large campus greens as well as intimate courtyards and passageways. Heavily used patio spaces and dining areas were made compliant to current access codes.  Strategically placed retaining walls supported accessible grade changes while providing small gathering spaces and seating.  Site furnishings were relocated to be more functional and new plantings were added to blend the new construction into the existing campus landscape.
