American Cancer Society Hope Lodge

This project is an adaptive reuse of the former Vincent Memorial Hospital built in 1906 on a very restricted urban site.  Prior to new construction this urban site consisted of  an abandoned building surrounded by asphalt with no green space.

The new landscape design maximizes the potential for green space and provides a sense of healing and calm for arriving guests. Other site and landscape design considerations include: universal access, improved vehicular circulation and parking, on-site storm water management, native plant selections and protection and enhancement of the landscape abutting the Emerald Necklace. A Contemplative Garden accessed from within the building provides an outdoor place of solitude and privacy for patients and family.

The project achieved LEED Silver certification.
